Special thanks to MayVaneDay for another great game mod featuring my character.
We actually had to look this one up, since we don't personally own a Nintendo. But the gist of "Tomodachi Life: Living the dream" is kinda like "Animal Crossing" in terms of being on an island and interacting with other characters in a self-enclosed metaverse, and less of a Raccoon by the name of "Tom Nook" throwing people into colossal 'bell' debt while playing landlord and dealing with his family members from hell explaining off-the-rails capitalism to you. Just hearing the name reminded me of little animals you had to press buttons to feed, piss off WOW water!, and pet, or else they'd die, which we had to do a double-take and go:
Wait.. That Tamagotchi. I threw mine into the vortex. fuck i'm old - S
But after a while. This game reminded me of a kicked-up version of Commodore 64's "Little Computer People," which hit me the moment you entered these Miis' homes.
The system seems to take advantage of the Miis within Nintendo, which allows you to choose an outfit from an array of many as well as some control over primitives for hair.
Watching a playthrough, we got the gist pretty quickly of why people like the game so much.
It's like watching a story unfold right in front of you. Like talking to uncanny-valley Sonic in a bed of sunflowers! :D
But also, you can zoom around the island and take care of these little guys to make sure they're getting fed, as well as leveling them up to give them new skills to make them more interesting.
Yeah, we get that feeling as well! Even outside of the game. Not going to lie on that one.
We know by default a lot of the assets within the island use that classic pastel palette that Nintendo really fixates on. But there are ways to add your own textures and assets to start changing the mood and theme of the island. Also note that this game has some really bizarre methods for curing hiccups! With giant fingers coming onto the screen as your Mii asks you to poke them higher or lower.
Final thoughts
Thank you so much for sharing this with me! We seriously needed a break from the dread of tech articles, and this certainly helps! I was also given the .ltd file, which is used for exporting customized assets, which is helpful in case we wanted to spin up an emulator to give this file a try ourselves.
It also reminded me to update my gifts section, as a few of my articles were missing from the CSS-generated page. Also, we minimized the CSS a little further, as the Dillo browser was super-hating the lightbox feature we had programmed in. Finally, we made the media files clickable to get the full 1080p version.
Again, thank you for this gift art!
Until next time.
Server protect you. END OF LINE+++
